Car refinish paint: water marks

Source:本站    Release time:2024-04-15 16:53:15    Click volume:

Watermarks means there are corrosion-like spots showing on the car paint surface, in white or yellow color. It is less common on the sides of the car body, usually occurs on the car roof, luggage cover etc. that's because:

1. The new spray paint film was exposed to water droplets or splashed with water without being fully dried condition, especially the water droplets with high mineral content. When this water mixes with the solvents in the paint, it will penetrate into the paint surface and leave watermarks.

2. If the newly sprayed paint layer is too thick, it will prolong the drying time and increase the chance of leaving water marks when the paint surface comes into contact with water droplets.

3. The water droplets have the transmission and focusing function of a magnifying glass in the sunlight. After the water droplets dry, they will leave a white or yellow corrosion outline on the paint surface.

4. If silicon-containing polishing materials are used prematurely on a newly sprayed paint surface, these marks may also be caused.

Therefore, try to avoid contact with water when the automotive paint surface is freshly sprayed, and driving in rainy days is strictly prohibited. It is best not to spray paint in rainy weather, as car paint requires a certain amount of drying time. Use an appropriate polishing agent according to the depth of the watermarks. If the marks are particularly severe, cleaning and polishing should be repeated regularly to eliminate the marks. If it still doesn't work after repeated operations, it is recommended to use fine sandpaper to polish the watermarked area and then re-spray the auto paint.
