Automotive Plastic Primer is a fast drying, one component transparent primer with adhesion function. It is generally used to spray plastic products such as car bumpers and car interiors. The purpose is to improve the adhesion between color car paint and plastic substrates. It has excellent corrosion resistance, moisture resistance and chemical resistance.
So how to use plastic primer and what is its construction process?
1. Remove wax, oil and other contamination with degreaser, sand the surface of plastic parts with 600#~800# sandpaper, wash with clean water and keep cool, then use degreaser again.
2. When using the automotive plastic primer, it does not need to be diluted, which means it doesn’t need to be mixed with thinner, it can be used directly by spraying. Generally, it is enough to cover with two coats spraying, 5-10 minutes between 2 coats. It should not be too thick, since too thick will affect the adhesion between the automotive paint and the substrate.
3. The topcoat can be sprayed only after plastic primer is completely dry.
If you spray plastic parts for other purposes, it is best to test them before using them, because the composition of some plastic parts and plastic products is more complicated.
