About paint defects---wrinkling:
Swelling and bulging of the base coat when a new film is applied. May appear during application or while drying.
1. Reason:
(1) When using 2K products for wet-on-wet operations, the flash-off time is too long (gel state);
(2) When the solvent-sensitive paint film is repeatedly sprayed, the wrong product is used or the paint film is too thick;
(3) The thickness of the sealing layer is too thin (applied too thinly, or polished too much);
(4) The substrate is not completely dry.
2. How to avoid:
(1) Always follow the recommended flash time;
(2) Carry out a solvent test and select an appropriate coating system;
(3) Spray the recommended film thickness;
(4) Re-dry the substrate if necessary (eg with an infrared lamp).
3. Maintenance:
Sand the surface of the paint film to make it smooth. Repair with recommended primer and topcoat.
