Automobile painting process

Automotive paint spraying is not an easy task, do you know what the process of car paint spraying is? As a professional car paint manufacturer from China, we want to share the main process with you.

1. After the completion of the metal plate processing

A. Check and confirm if there is any concave side and convex side. Generally, you could use putty if the concave side is not too serious.

B. Check if there is any burnt paint, loose surface paint and bottom putty, use a sand mill machine to remove it if there is such a phenomenon, otherwise it will cause blisters and cracks in the future.

C. Before filling with the putty, you should use 180# sandpaper to grind the surface, especially the smooth place

2. Method of filling with putty

A. Firstly, scrape the putty thinly on the surface of the iron sheet

B. Scrape the concave area once, and then touch it after drying to see if it is okay.

C. Scrape all the places needed, and the you can see if there is a high point, and if there is one, deal with it first.

D. Scrape it all over, paying attention to the corners.

E. Shave the corners and pores on the surface and then the interface.

3. Water mill and commonly used sandpaper

A. 180# is used to grind the surface and can only be used on the putty. It cannot be ground to the perfect place and the interface, because it will leave deep sand marks. 180# needs to be performed while grinding and touching, because it would be dented again if too much grinding.

B. 320# is to change the sand marks left by 180# and deal with the interface.

C. 800# is to change the sand mark, and it has to be polished off all over the painted area.

D. 1500# and 2000# are to grind the areas where only varnish is sprayed and the areas to be polished, such as particles and streamers.

4. NC putty

Generally, there are some small holes and sand marks on the putty after grinding, the NC putty is to fill in those small holes. And the NC putty can only be thinly scraped. Pay attention not to leave too much ash on it during grinding because it does not have the firmness as putty. If you leave too much, it will easily cause blistering.

5. Primer

The function of the primer is to have good adhesion. it can also fill in the smaller sand marks, pores and interfaces, and it is easy to polish and prevent rust. Most of the current primer is gray color, because gray is the best color to be concealed by the top coat, especially metallic white and silver paint.

6. After spraying the primer and waiting for a few minutes, you can directly scrape NC putty. This is the last link to find out the problems. If you are afraid of not being able to fill it cleanly, you can look for it again after the primer is polished and the water is blown dry. Then is spraying colors and clear coats.

For paint touch-up, it is recommended to go to a specialized repair shops.
